there are two such survivors- 1601 as you depicted, which is inside, and 1604 in Baltimore which rests outdoors. I had the good fortune to speak with an engineer who did get to run them in the 1950s (originally built to run in West Virginia, towards the end of their careers they were used in Ohio)and he described the thrill that the crew would have in running such a monster.

That's cool Lew. I would love to get behind the helm of this beauty. It curently sits rotting away in Philladelphia. It was the fastest ocean liner ever built.
